- The Tape Trick: Take a piece of strong duct tape or packing tape. Press it firmly against the eggs and peel it back. They should stick to the tape. Fold the tape over so they are trapped and throw it in the trash.
- Soapy Water Bath: If the leaf is small or heavily infested, simply snip the entire leaf off and drop it into a bucket of water mixed with dish soap. This suffocates the eggs and prevents hatching.
- Check the Underside: Remember, stink bugs are “shy” parents. They almost always lay these eggs on the undersides of leaves to hide them from birds and the sun.
A Final Warning
If you see a cluster that looks like it has been “opened” (like a tiny lid is popped off), you’re too late—they’ve already hatched. At that point, start looking for tiny, colorful crawling insects nearby.
