Honey Garlic Chicken with Mushrooms is a delicious and comforting dish that combines tender chicken, savory mushrooms, and a rich sweet garlic sauce.
This recipe is perfect for busy weeknights because it is simple to prepare and requires only a few basic ingredients.
The combination of honey and garlic creates a flavorful glaze that coats the chicken beautifully, while the mushrooms add an earthy and satisfying taste.
This dish is popular because it offers the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The chicken becomes juicy and tender as it cooks, and the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze that pairs wonderfully with rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables.
Ingredients
2 large chicken breasts or 4 chicken thighs
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cups mushrooms, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
2 tablespoons water
Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions
Start by seasoning the chicken with salt and black pepper on both sides. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Place the chicken in the pan and cook for about 5–6 minutes on each side until golden brown and nearly cooked through.
Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
In the same skillet, add the butter and sliced mushrooms.
Cook for about 4–5 minutes until the mushrooms become soft and slightly golden.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Next, pour in the honey and soy sauce.
Stir well to combine and allow the sauce to simmer gently.
Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Let it cook for another 5 minutes so the chicken absorbs the flavors.
If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with water and add it to the pan while stirring.
Serve the honey garlic chicken with mushrooms over rice or noodles and garnish with fresh parsley or green onions for extra flavor.
