Deviled Egg Tulip Appetizer Platter

📝 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Boil & Cool the Eggs:
    • Place 6 large eggs in a pot of cold water, bring to a boil, then cover and remove from heat for 10–12 minutes.
    • Transfer to an ice bath immediately to cool completely, then peel gently. 🧊🥚
  2. Carve the Egg “Tulips”:
    • Using a small sharp paring knife, cut a deep ‘X’ pattern into the pointed top of each peeled egg (about ⅓ of the way down) to create 4 petals.
    • Carefully scoop out the cooked egg yolks using a small spoon or narrow handle without breaking the white petals, and place yolks into a small mixing bowl. 🥣
  3. Make the Creamy Filling:
    • Add the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, finely chopped dill, salt, and pepper to the bowl with the egg yolks. 🧀🥣🌿
    • Mash and whip with a fork or hand mixer until completely smooth and creamy.
    • Transfer the filling into a piping bag fitted with a star or round tip (or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off).
  4. Stuff the Tulips:
    • Gently open the petals of each carved egg white and pipe the creamy yolk mixture into the center until it forms a neat flower bulb. 🌷
  5. Assemble the Stems & Bases:
    • Slice the English cucumber into ½-inch thick rounds to act as sturdy bases. 🥒
    • Trim sturdy green scallion stalks to form the “flower stems”.
    • Insert a toothpick into the top of a cucumber slice, slide a scallion stalk over the toothpick, and gently anchor the base of a stuffed egg tulip onto the top of the stem! 🪡🌷
  6. Arrange & Serve:
    • Stand the egg tulips upright on a serving platter to form an edible bouquet.
    • Tuck remaining green scallion leaves around the base to mimic flower leaves, chill until ready to serve, and enjoy! 😋✨
