The Vanilla Silk Glaze:
- Reserved icing from the cinnamon roll cans
- 2 tbsp heavy cream (or whole milk)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste (optional, for those beautiful flecks)
Instructions
1. Prep the Oven and Pan Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch ceramic baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
2. Prepare the Dough Bites Open the cinnamon roll cans and cut each individual roll into quarters. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Toss the dough pieces in this mixture until they are evenly coated in sugary goodness.
3. Layer the Magic Place half of the cinnamon roll pieces into the bottom of the prepared dish. In a separate medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.
4. The “Soft” Center Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the first layer of dough. Use a spatula to spread it slightly (it doesn’t have to be perfect). Top with the remaining cinnamon roll pieces. This creates that “soft” molten center shown in the photo.
5. Bake to Golden Perfection Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. You’re looking for the dough to be puffed and golden brown, and the center to be set but still slightly jiggly.
6. The Final Pour While the bake is hot, whisk together the reserved icing, heavy cream, and vanilla bean paste. Pour the glaze generously over the warm bake, letting it seep into all the nooks and crannies.
