Fix this.

I looked at my mother.

“No.”

Her face froze.

“She’s your sister.”

“And I’m your daughter.”

Silence.

For once, Mom had nothing to say.

Adrian handed me a sealed black folder.

“This is your revised agreement.”

I opened it.

The position was no longer listed as Senior Systems Engineer.

Instead, it read:

**Director of Clinical Cybersecurity Architecture**

Base salary:

**$185,000**

Signing bonus:

**$40,000**

Equity package.

Patent participation.

Performance incentives.

My hands started shaking.

Vanessa saw the numbers over my shoulder.

Her expression twisted.

“No.”

Dad actually laughed.

Adrian extended his hand.

“The board voted unanimously this morning.”

I shook it.

“Thank you.”

The ballroom erupted again.

Behind me, Vanessa started crying.

Not quietly.

Angrily.

She grabbed several remaining pieces of my old offer and threw them toward the stage.

Security moved immediately.

Mom stepped forward.

“Don’t touch her!”

One guard positioned himself between them.

Vanessa screamed my name as she was escorted toward the exit.

“CLAIRE! YOU RUINED MY LIFE!”

I turned once.

“No, Vanessa.”

I looked directly at her.

“You finally managed to do something without my help.”

And that was the end of the graduation ceremony.

But not the consequences.

Meridian formally withdrew Vanessa’s application.

A few weeks later, another employer contacted Meridian during a reference process and learned why.

Things became even worse because Vanessa had uploaded part of the graduation confrontation online herself.

She apparently expected strangers to agree that I had humiliated her.

They didn’t.

The video spread.
