Slow Cooker Mississippi Pot Roast

👩‍🍳 How to Make Slow Cooker Mississippi Pot Roast

1. Prepare the Beef 🥩

Pat the chuck roast dry with paper towels. Trim away any very large pieces of excess fat, but leave some marbling because it helps keep the roast moist and flavorful.

Season the roast lightly with black pepper. You generally don’t need much salt, since the ranch and au jus seasoning mixes are already salty.

2. Sear the Roast 🔥

For an extra-deep flavor, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Sear the chuck roast for about 2–3 minutes per side, until nicely browned.

Transfer the roast to your slow cooker.

Shortcut: You can skip this step if you’re short on time. The roast will still be delicious!
